On a recent NCAA basketball game, former Columbus North player, Josh Speidel, was seen on the Vermont bench. Vermont honored his scholarship even though he was severely injured in a 2015 car wreck. This wreck happened on a snowy, Superbowl evening and the wreck left Speidel with a severe head injury. In an amazing cover story, Speidel has come all the way back to where he is able to not only maintain a high GPA in his studies, but he is gradually regaining his athletic skills as well. A lot of you local fans will remember that Batesville’s Bryan Hoeing was injured in the same basketball season. Both athletes were projected to be All-Star players that year. Hoeing has recovered and is still pursuing his dream of someday pitching in the major leagues.Best of luck to both of these athletes!
