Exclusive – Norwich boss Alex Neil ‘not daunted’ by Premier League challenge

first_imgAlex Neil insists the Premier League holds no fear for himself or his Norwich squad. The Canaries were installed as one of the relegation favourites almost immediately after winning promotion via the Championship play-offs last season. But their 34-year-old boss Neil, who has enjoyed a meteoric rise since taking on his first managerial job with Hamilton in 2013, is relishing the challenge of upsetting the odds.“I’m really looking forward to it,” he said, speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.“Like my squad, I’m not daunted by it and we are looking forward to the challenge.“You want to try and compete at the highest level. I’ve just managed to get there quicker than anticipated.”Neil has been busy in the transfer market this summer as he looks to mould a squad capable of surviving – and thriving – in the Premier League.Robbie Brady and Andre Wisdom have been brought in this week following protracted negotiations with their respective clubs, Hull and Liverpool, while Graham Dorrans and Youssouf Mulumbu arrived earlier in the summer. But Norwich are not finished spending yet, with Neil admitting: “We are still looking to strengthen.“If we can get another couple in the door, that will certainly help us.“As we found out with the last two signings, it is not easy and takes a bit of time, but we are doing everything we can and hopefully by the time the season starts we will have a settled squad.”last_img read more
