first_imgMeghalaya: JoshiShillong, July 5 (PTI) AICC General Secretary C P Joshi today expressed confidence that BJP will not be able to effect a repeat of Arunachal Pradesh-type situation in Meghalaya while alleging that the saffron party is trying to “destabilise” the government in the state.”They (BJP) cannot repeat Arunachal Pradesh like situation in Meghalaya,” Joshi told reporters here while alleging there is a move by BJP to destabilise the government in the state.The AICC leader arrived in the city on his maiden visit to the state to address party leaders and functionaries.Asked whether the Congress had any intention to go for pre-poll alliance, the AICC leader said that the party will be able to give reply to this only in 2018 when Assembly elections are held in the state.Earlier while addressing party functionaries in a meeting here, the Congress veteran appealed to the state party leadership to be cautious and vigilant since the NE region will be playing a major role in the next 2-3 years.Alleging the BJP-led central government was not interested in empowering people from different faiths, Joshi said, “The NDA government has reduced the funds for development of panchayati raj to only Rs 94 crore from Rs 7,000 crore, which had been allotted by then Congress led UPA government.” PTI JOP SUS SMNlast_img read more
